Michelle Snouno aims to initiate a project that creates “the future of music” by researching the authentic Syrian melody, where Syrian and Byzantine melodies blend with ancient religious melodies to create its unique charm. This research is expressed through her participation in numerous concerts and collaborations with professors interested in this spiritual and Sufi music.

  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in music, majoring in Eastern singing and with additional specialization in oud and piano, with honors, from the Higher Institute of Music in Damascus, 2008-2013.
  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Damascus, Faculty of Law, 2016.
  • A member of the Artists Syndicate in Syria since 2009 and the Syndicate of Professional Artists in Lebanon.
  • Participated as a solo singer with the “Soloists of Damascus” group in the 12th International Music Festival hosted by the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow on the Rachmaninoff stage, as well as in a performance at the Eurasia Theater in Novosibirsk, Russia, invited by the Russian Ministry of Culture, in 2023.
  • Participated in the launch concert of the “Soloists of Damascus” group at the Damascus Opera House under the title “Eastern Syriac Spirituality” in 2023.
  • Recorded several works with the “Canadian Arabic Orchestra” as a solo singer in Toronto, Canada, in 2023.
  • Since the beginning of 2023, she has been presenting a series of songs accompanied by the oud as part of the daily program called “Sabah Al-Noor” on Arabi2 TV in Qatar.
  • Participated in various festivals as part of the 2022 FIFA World Cup events held in Qatar, where she performed her own song for the occasion. She also participated in events during the Arab Cup 2021 and in the National Day Festival in Qatar in 2021.
  • Contributed to the preservation of Syrian Syriac, Aleppo, and religious music in its various forms by participating in a series of concerts with the “Mar Afram Syriac Choir” in churches in Syria in 2012-2013, as well as at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik and several churches in Lebanon in 2014-2019.
  • Won the second prize in the singing competition of Wadih El Safi’s works at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, Lebanon, in 2014.
  • Participated in the 50th Algerian Independence Day Festival in Algeria in 2012 and in the Easter Festival Orvieto – Rome, Italy, in 2011, where she sang as a soloist with the Syrian Chamber Choir.
  • Presented performances with the Syriac composer and researcher Nouri Iskander as part of the “Goguyu/Alfakharun” group, most notably at the Eastern Spaces Festival – Syriac Works at the Damascus Opera House, Syria, in 2011.
  • In addition to her participation with the Higher Institute of Music’s ensemble in various concerts, notably in Sousse, Tunisia, during the Eighth International University Festival, as well as concerts in Amman, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates in 2010.
  • Collaborated with the composer Abid Azariah in a production of “The Gospel of John,” where she was a solo singer with the Graduates Choir of the Higher Institute of Music. The performance took place at the Syrian Opera House, as well as at the Fes Sacred Music Festival in Morocco and at the Opera Houses in Nice and Marseille, France, where the work was recorded and received great acclaim in 2009.
